A few weeks back while surfing around Ravelry I noticed a pair of socks that looked familiar. Magnusmog had knit these Finnish Socks from Folk Socks by Nancy Bush.(if you are on Ravelry you can admire them here http://www.ravelry.com/projects/magnusmog/finnish-socks ) I have a pair of those that I knit from yarn that I had made from wool that was a Christmas gift. It was given to me the first year we moved to Michigan about thirteen years ago. The socks sit in a cupboard – felted by a helpful husband – schooled in helpfulness- but not schooled in the art of washing woolens. Anyway they sit – admired even in their felted state - whenever I do my seasonal cupboard changeover. Last weekend my brother showed up with a pair of the same socks knit in reverse colors with the same wool that I had made for him way back when. It seems I had made two pairs and gifted him one and had forgotten all about them. How fun it was to see them. Funny though he has never worn them – I think because he wanted to just admire them and was worried about ruining them. When I make something and give it away – I’m pretty good at giving it away – and letting go. How about you?

Nancy Bush is a knitting genius. I just wish I could say the same for me!
It is fun to give knitted things away but better if you can hear about dogs chewing on knitted toys and don't get upset. (for example). I love that fish animation on your blog!
